My Sexy Saturday ~ This Undeniable Fact

LynnSexySaturday_banner

Hello and welcome to My Sexy Saturday, the blog hop where a host of writers share steamy snippets from their published work or work in progress in either seven words, seven sentences or seven paragraphs.

This week I’m sharing from my new and shiny m/m release, Gryffon Hall.  The theme is My Sexy Dilemma and on Wryler’s wedding night, he unexpectedly finds himself right in the middle of one.  His groom has become irritatingly respectful all of a sudden, and what happens next is up to Wryler.

***

Wryler rolled onto his side and felt horribly, dreadfully lonely. Dratted wine.

Rouchet’s touch, his kisses, his heat…had been so convincing, so passionate. Rouchet had awakened a fire in Wryler only to douse it with politeness.

How dare Rouchet be so polite all of a sudden? So irritatingly considerate? There was, if one wanted to open one’s heart to further humiliation, the tiniest possibility that what Rouchet had said was actually true. He wanted to give Wryler the choice.

Wryler flopped onto his back again. Perhaps, not only was Rouchet not a monster, but quite human. Maybe he wanted to be wanted just as Wryler did.

“Ridiculous,” Wryler muttered. “You’re only thinking that because you want it to be true.” He sat up and, after a moment, pulled off his boots. Then he tore at the cravat. He nearly choked himself, but got it off and threw it aside. Damn it. Rouchet was supposed to be doing this. Wryler’s husband was supposed to be peeling his clothes off, lavishing him with kisses, groping him with abandon.

“Oh, stop it,” he said to his traitorous cock, which stiffened and swelled, entirely unaware that it had been rejected right along with the rest of Wryler’s body. His breathing grew ragged.

He wanted Rouchet. All Wryler’s arguments against this undeniable fact crumbled to dust.

Seductive Studs ~ Wed This Very Night

square_SeductiveStuds

A new week, a new round of Seductive Studs.  I’m sharing from my new release, Gryffon Hall, a fantasy inspired by Beauty and the Beast and spiced up with an m/m romance.  In this scene, Wryler has arrived at Gryffon Hall with his aunt Otillia. They’ve found out over breakfast that Rouchet insists on proceeding with the ceremony right away.  Wryler speaks first.

***

“Lord Rouchet—”

“Please. We’re to be wed this very night. Call me Aeric.”

Mouth suddenly quite dry, Wryler looked up at Rouchet. Wed this very night. He licked his lips and formed the word with difficulty.

“Aeric.” He’d forgotten what he was going to ask.

“That sounds much nicer.” Rouchet had a hand on the back of his chair and with the other reached out for one of Wryler’s. Wryler nearly jumped in surprise but held still, blushing only a little. Rouchet’s hand was rough and hot and could snap all of Wryler’s fingers with a squeeze, yet his grip was gentle. “You have a request? Whatever you wish, I will do my utmost to satisfy.”

“I… It’s nothing, really. I wondered if I might see the library.”

“Wryler!” Otillia exclaimed. “You have no time for sightseeing. Now that Lord Rouchet insists on having the ceremony tonight, we must away at once to your chamber to finish your—”

“I would be delighted to escort you there myself, Wryler,” Rouchet said, speaking over Otillia as if she hadn’t uttered a peep. Wryler’s aunt flushed a deep red, and Farina’s eyes looked like they might pop out of her head. “Please excuse us, Lady Otillia. It will only be a brief excursion, and I will return your nephew to you in ample time. Unless you wish to join us?”

“As if I had a moment to spare!” Otillia looked like she might leap to her feet, but sighed and reached for another jam tart. “If you’re not at my door in an hour’s time, Wryler, I’ll send that useless manservant of yours to fetch you. If I can find him.” She shook her head and muttered, “So much to do in one day.”

Rouchet stepped back and gestured for Wryler to walk ahead of him. Wryler bowed to his aunt, who released him with a testy wave. He walked stiffly down the long stretch of the room, aware of Rouchet on his heels. He’d wanted to escape to the library, to be alone with his favorite people—dead scholars in books—and gather his thoughts. He’d certainly had no intention of prolonging his contact with Rouchet. It was damn awkward, is what it was.

Get through the wedding night. Submit to whatever has to happen, and then hopefully Rouchet will go on his way, ignoring his spouse like so many husbands do.

Ah, little chance of that Wryler.

Weekend Writing Warriors ~ Better Get Packing

wewriwa

Greetings and welcome to another round of Weekend Writing Warriors.

I’m forging ahead with a scene from my new release, Gryffon Hall.  Wryler has just found out that he’s been betrothed to a stranger, the notorious Lord Aeric Rouchet.  The arrangement is very advantageous for Wryler’s father, but that’s cold comfort to Wryler.  The “they” in the first sentence is Wryler’s father and a government minister.

***

They both smiled broadly, completely unconcerned with Wryler’s feelings or the terrifying fate they’d bound him to.

Wryler lifted his chin and put back his shoulders. “And when is the ceremony set to occur? Sometime in the summer?” he asked, mind racing. There was still a chance he could talk to Rouchet and explain that Wryler had no interest in marrying him, that he loved—or at least was fond of—another. Maybe MacFarlane would reject the Arsburry offer and Wryler’s father could be persuaded to reconsider—

“Seven days hence at Gryffon Hall. Lord Rouchet has already taken his leave in order to prepare his household. You’re to follow in three days. Better get packing.”

Weekend Writing Warriors ~ No Turning Back

wewriwa

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, the  blog hop where a bunch of really great writers share from their published works, works in progress or whatever has just fallen out of their brain pan. Don’t be alarmed–it’s fun!

This week I’m excited to share my cover for the first time as well as a snippet from Gryffon Hall, my m/m fantasy which is being released on Tuesday!  Yes, this Tuesday.  Nothing like getting promotional materials three days before release to get a writer’s heart a-pounding. But I digress.  Wryler has just been informed by his father that he’s been betrothed to the notorious Lord Aeric Rouchet and has expressed misgivings (to put it lightly). If you’d like to read the scene leading up to this, you can find snippets here, here and here.

***

Minister Cook, who had yet to utter a sound, cleared his throat and said, “If it will ease your mind, Master Wryler, consider the likelihood that the tales of monsters have been kept alive by the Rouchets themselves, in order to guard their borders and enhance their prestige. If we really believed centaurs and gryffons still roamed the woods, we’d hardly risk sending a heavily laden caravan through the forest, with or without Rouchet’s guidance.”

Wryler chewed his lower lip—it wasn’t the monsters in the forest that concerned him.

“And if I refuse?”

Lord Glimmerveen laughed heartily and slapped Wryler on the shoulder. “If you refuse, I’ll escort you to Gryffon Hall at swordpoint myself. The ink on the contract has dried. There’s no turning back. Think of all the new stars you’ll see without the fog and dust of the valley to obscure your sky peeper.”

“It’s called a telescope,” Wryler groused.

My Sexy Saturday ~ Barricade the Door

LynnSexySaturday_banner

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday!  If you’re looking to cool off, this is probably not the place to be. However, if you’re looking for a little spice in your fiction, a little sweet and sexy to start your day, then you’re definitely in the right place.  This week’s theme is My Sexy Beast.  I’m sharing from my m/m fantasy Gryffon Hall, which is coming out this Tuesday!  Gryffon Hall is inspired by the fairy tales Beauty and the Beast and, of course, The Griffin.

In this scene, Wryler has arrived at the foreboding home of his mysterious fiancée, Lord Aeric Rouchet.  Wryler heard many dark tales about his husband-to-be during the journey to Gryffon Hall and is experiencing an advanced case of pre-wedding jitters.

***

Wryler tensed, hearing each footfall as it drew closer. He was close to bursting with tension when the steps slowed and stopped before his door. Was Rouchet going to burst in and take what was not yet legally his? Wryler quieted his ragged breaths, and the boots moved on, but stopped again only a few steps down. The door next to Wryler’s opened and slammed shut, and then Wryler heard no more. Was Rouchet right next door? Wryler stood up and pressed his ear to the wall, but the thick stone gave up no secrets.

He pushed back and shook his head. Of course husband and husband might be expected to have adjoining rooms. The thought of Rouchet so close sent prickles all along Wryler’s skin. He nearly yelped when a tiny pinhole of light appeared in the wall. He moved down the wall and discovered a door built to blend right into the paneling.

How awful! Rouchet could spring out at him at any time. Wryler crouched down and peeked through the keyhole. All he could see was a similar keyhole about four feet away. The small passage had been built into the stone wall, and he guessed a similar door led into Rouchet’s room, if that was indeed Rouchet lurking on the other side of it. After a few minutes with no indication of movement or sound, the light went out.

Wryler crept back to bed and slid under the covers. Well, that was that. He’d never sleep again. He’d have to barricade the door. Knowing he could be jumped on and ravaged at any time… He tossed and turned, but his gaze kept returning to the invisible door. Willing it to stay shut. Willing it to burst open. How ridiculous he was being! He’d have to get used to it, obviously. That was the fate of a married man whose spouse was also a lord and a monster.

No, just an ordinary man. Wryler flopped onto his back and stared at the ceiling. Exhausted from the trip, he did sleep, and dreamt of a winged shadow creeping in through the small door and spreading its great weight across his helpless body. Feathers brushed his skin. Fur slid between his legs and stroked his cock. He couldn’t move as claws lightly explored his flesh.

His legs were forced apart, and the monstrous member he’d been warned of pushed its way into him, opening, opening, delving into him until he knew he would be torn in two.

He woke up panting, gripped not by the icy talons of terror, but a hot and searing arousal. Again and again his hand traveled to wrap around his stiff cock. Near dawn he relented and stroked himself to a quick and violent release, refusing to think of Rouchet’s hard body, chiseled jaw, and flashing green eyes. At last the shadow retreated, and Wryler fell into a dreamless sleep.

Seductive Studs ~ Altogether Too Pleased

square_SeductiveStuds

Welcome to Seductive Studs, the blog hop that celebrates m/m romance in all its many wonderful forms.  I’m sharing from my upcoming release, Gryffon Hall, continuing from where I left off last week.  Lennox, the man Wryler thought he was going to marry, dropped by to exact a little revenge for being jilted, and maybe to make another play for Wryler’s affections.

***

“Did you come to my rooms purely to agitate me?” Wryler demanded, stopping in front of where Lennox lounged looking altogether too pleased with himself. Lenn’s expression changed in a flash, and he leaped to his feet.

“No! My sweet cabbage, I came not to say good-bye, but to entreat you not to forget me.” He seized Wryler by the shoulders and drew him closer. “Hope is not dead. This Lord Rouchet of yours leads a dangerous life. There’s a high likelihood you’ll be widowed. Think of it, Wryler. The gateway to the Black Forest could be yours!”

“So you want to keep me in your back pocket, do you? In case no other young lord becomes available before my groom is eaten by trolls?”

“You wound me to the depths of my innards. I care for you deeply.” Lennox lifted Wryler to his tiptoes and pressed his open lips to Wryler’s tightly clamped ones.

Oh, Wryler, yesterday you were dying to marry this man. Are you so easily offended and fickle? He relaxed and let Lennox’s tongue plunge into his mouth. Wryler waited for some spark, some slight hint of the latent desires stirred by Aeric Rouchet, but it didn’t happen. If he was honest, it never had. If Lennox noticed Wryler’s limp reaction, he didn’t show it.
