Weekend Writing Warriors ~ An Alien?

wewriwa

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop where a whole bunch of awesome writers share their work in eight sentence snippets.

I’m continuing on with excerpts from my erotic m/m space opera, From Mars, With Love, because I can’t face abandoning Eli to his fate just yet.  Last week he woke up to find his desperate escape attempt had failed and he was in one of the stasis pods of the slave ship.  An asteroider and security bot are discussing his ring, which is giving out some odd readings.

***

“That’s an alien living on his finger?”

“Don’t gossip, Dwar, you know how easy it is to get this crew into a panic. Now key up the spectrometer readout.”

An alien? That was crazy, but anything that kept them from cutting off his finger was a good thing, bullshit or not. Eli rolled his head to the other side, noticed they’d removed the last of his clothes and that his skin on the right side looked a little funny.

“The flash burns are nearly healed, I see.” The robotic voice came from a security crab hovering much too close, propulsion jets heating Eli’s exposed flesh.

Because gals like to have fun in space with guns too. Let’s just hope Eli’s alien isn’t quite so slimy.

My Sexy Saturday ~ No Glamour

LynnSexySaturday_banner

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday– the blog hop that’s guaranteed to warm up your weekend.  This week’s theme is Sexy Me Twice. Again I was challenged to find just the right thing, so I decided to go with a sweet reunion scene.  These seven paragraphs are from one of my many WIPs, To Kill a King, follow up to my high fantasy m/m novella, To Catch a Threeve.

“Now that you’re sheriff, are you going to replace me with someone more respectable?”

“Never.” The glowering anger returned and Axel pulled him in roughly for a kiss. As usual when their lips met a tingling fire raced along beneath Liam’s skin and his groin muscles tightened. He held Axel’s waist and ground against him, everything besides his lover’s body falling from his awareness. Axel smelled like rain, mud and spicy sweat and his lips tasted like sweet brandy.

Liam opened his mouth and Axel slipped his tongue in, probing deep as one hand travelled up to Liam’s neck and pulled him in closer, forcing his back to arch. Liam held on tight to avoid losing his balance as Axel’s presence overwhelmed and enfolded him. He reached up and tore at the clasp holding Axel’s cloak in place. With a click the heavy wool slid to the floor. The surcoat presented a greater challenge. Liam slipped his hands into the wide armholes and ran his hands up Axel’s back, enjoying the feel of muscles tighten and flex.

Axel ended the kiss, but kept his lips close to Liam’s mouth. “I like you so much better this way,” he murmured.

“Helpless in your arms?”

“No glamour. You. You’re perfect the way you are. I wouldn’t change a thing.” He lowered his head and kissed Liam’s nape, his dirty, wild hair brushing Liam’s cheek. Embarrassed by compliments and not sure what to say, Liam decided to avoid the topic by diverting Axel’s attention. He grabbed Axel’s wide leather belt and tugged at the large buckle.

“I missed you,” he said.

Weekend Writing Warriors ~ Alterations

Welcome to another round of Weekend Writing Warriors.  I was going to move on to a new story, but I decided that considering where I left off last week, that would just be mean.  I’m sure you’re all curious to know how Eli’s escape attempt turned out.  This is from my erotic space opera in progress, From Mars, With Love.

***

Reluctantly, Eli opened his eyes. A crushing wave of disappointment washed over him. He was in a pod, or half a pod, anyway. They hadn’t sealed him in yet. He tried to move but found his arms and legs weighed about a thousand kilos each. His left arm was stretched out along a metal plate, his wrist held in a vice and a microscope was trained on his pinky finger. Blue and red scan lines rippled across his mother’s ring.

“Until we discover the nature of the object, no alterations will be made to the host.”

So now you know. Sorry.  Here is a pretty picture to alleviate your pain.

Okay, it’s an arrow, not a gun and to be honest, I don’t even know Hawkeye’s backstory. SF or fantasy? But do we really care?

My Sexy Saturday ~ Keep Looking

LynnSexySaturday_banner

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday.  This week’s theme is “I’ve got you, Babe.” I had a hard time coming up with an excerpt to match the theme, maybe because I’m always busy tearing my couples apart.  So this week’s seven is from an upcoming contemporary fantasy: title-yet-to-be-announced, in which my lovers, Zeke and Ian, got each other, but only oh-so briefly.

***

“I’ve searched for you my whole life.” Ian fingered sweaty strands of hair from Zeke’s face.

“Keep looking. Promise me you will keep looking.”

“If you don’t leave, I won’t have to.”

“It’s not my choice.” Zeke let go of Ian’s hand and his body faded, everything except the eyes.

Weekend Writing Warriors ~ This One Has Value

Welcome to another thrilling episode of Weekend Writing Warriors.  I’ve been sharing snippets from my erotic space opera in progress, From Mars, With Love. Guess what? I’ve finally reached the end of the never-ending chapter!  Eli has made a break for it, attempting to escape from the slavers who were in the process of putting their prisoners in stasis for the long ride to Titan.  I actually ended with two lines to spare, so I continued on into the next scene to provide a taste of what follows.

**

Then miraculously, Eli was in the hall and sprinting toward the shuttle dock. An earsplitting alarm sounded and he knew he had seconds before he’d be cornered and overwhelmed. He rounded a corner and came face-to-face with two surprised guards, who were even more surprised when he hit them with the stun wave.

He ran to the control interface of the dock, smashed the screen with the gun and jammed the snout into the splintered crack. After an agonizing moment of searching the weapon’s stock he found the power modulator and turned it to maximum. He took a deep breath, said a prayer to Lucky, and fired the gun into the guts of the shuttle system.

* * * *

“Can I snip off his genitals now?” asked a robotic voice.

“Absolutely not. This one has value.”

Weekend Writing Warriors~ Proud and Terrified

wewriwa

Welcome to another exciting episode of Weekend Writing Warriors!  I’m inching my way, eight lines by eight lines, to the exciting conclusion of The Call To Adventure Chapter of my erotic space opera, From Mars, With Love.  Last week, faced with having certain beloved body parts forcibly removed, our hero Eli took a wild gamble and made a break for it.  Pandemonium ensued.

***

The doors hissed open and a phalanx of guards charged in. Eli grabbed a confused asteroider and used him as a shield, avoiding the first blast of a generalized stun gun. Asteroiders as well as prisoners slumped to the ground and the shock wave seemed to have an ill effect on the crabs. Several started to spin and collide.

“For Chriton’s sake, don’t use the electric wave in here!” cried one of the guards. They too appeared confused. Eli had the distinct impression this had never happened to them before. He felt proud as well as terrified as he snatched a syringe hose and plunged it into the chest of an onrushing guard. He picked up the guard’s dropped weapon as he climbed over the body.
