Seductive Studs ~ A Fighting Chance

square_SeductiveStuds

Good evening, or morning, or whatever. Any time is the right time for Seductive Studs, the blog hop dedicated to m/m romance and the readers and writers who love it.  This week I’m continuing on from last week with a scene from my new release, Masters and Mages 3: Curse of Salar.  Captain Rayn Nevar is reviewing the state dinner with his minister, but his mind keeps wandering back to his first impressions of Prince Dezra.

History was forgotten for a moment as the desire to grab the man and ravage him on the spot demolished Rayn’s common sense. He’d been very glad his thick leather pants held his cock rigidly in place, for it would have tented a silk robe in a most awkward fashion.

He’d managed to keep his expression impassive, his stance relaxed, and his gaze steady. Still it had been a relief when Dezra looked away. Rayn’s mind started to work again, and he’d wondered if some vestige of Dezra’s mage blood remained locked inside that delicious body. Could an ordinary man have a fighting chance to enter the bed of such a creature and not be reduced to a jibbering slave? Wariness tempered Rayn’s lust.

Finally Havran had finished her speech, and the Armazins retreated to their table. The prince’s golden stare burned into Rayn’s back the entire way. Rayn wanted to flee the man and all he represented. He also wanted to hunt Dezra down and fuck him like he’d never been fucked before. Merely touching the prince could get him killed. Everything about Dezra screamed danger, but Rayn’s body didn’t care.

Blurb for Masters and Mages 3: Curse of Salar

In the desert kingdom of Jahar, the rule of mages has been overthrown and the ancient lineage of sorcerer kings wiped out. Prince Dezra and his sister are the last living members of the royal family and are held prisoners in their ancestral palace.

Prince Dezra lives a life of lies and deceit. In order to stay alive, he must pretend to be a drug-addicted wastrel, trusting no one, isolated from even his sister who has chosen to cooperate with the government that executed their parents.

Into his lonely existence comes a man who should be his sworn enemy; Captain Rayn Nevar. Dezra is irresistibly drawn to the rough soldier and his longing for a simple sexual encounter quickly morphs into a dangerous obsession.

Captain Rayn Nevar knows he should stay far away from Prince Dezra, but his desire for the beautiful young man overrides all common sense. Despite the fact that Dezra’s ancestors destroyed Rayn’s family, the captain finds himself in a position of protecting the prince from the many schemers who believe the last of the mages should be annihilated.

When treachery leads to Dezra’s escape, he is at last free to bond with the serpent god Ka’alar and develop his long repressed powers. Only the arrival of a mysterious monk with powers greater than Dezra’s stops the prince from using black sorcery to destroy all who stand in his way, including Rayn.

As Jahar edges toward another war between masters and mages, Rayn must question his devotion to his increasingly deadly lover while Dezra must decide if ultimate power is worth the ultimate sacrifice.

Starry Nights Summer Hop Wrap Up

SFRBBH2Greetings and thank you to everyone who participated in the SFR Brigade Summer Hop.  By all accounts it was a successful and enjoyable affair.

I have to apologize for the delay in selecting the winner of my giveaway. As it happened, I drove home from Seattle the last day of the hop and basically crashed and burned (mentally, not actually) for a solid 24.  So here I go to activate the highly scientific method of placing names in a hat and drawing the winning commentator.  The hat is a fez, by the way, just so you can visualize this exciting moment As It Occurred!

And the winner of the $10 Loose Id gift certificate is – rhireading!

The grand prize winners of the SFR Contest are:

1st – Meri Bee
2nd Sierra McBride
3rd Alan Saxon, Melissa Weeks, Blair Smyth

Thank you everyone for playing along.  Happy reading and many happy starry nights to you all.

BTW, it’s never too late to mosey on over to the SFR Website and treat yourself to some fabulous new writers!

Starry Nights- SFR Brigade Summer Hop

SFRBBH2

Welcome to the SFR Brigade Starry Night Blog Hop!  For my part I’ve decided to share an excerpt from my WIP, an erotic space opera.  I hope you enjoy reading it and have fun continuing on the hop.

From Mars, With Love

The man in black put his hand on Eli’s shoulder and pushed him forward. “Shall we transport, or do you like it here?”

Eli shrugged the hand off, or tried to. The man squeezed tighter. Eli glared at him, yanked free and moved through the shuttle bay to a newly blowtorched hole where the marines had latched one of their mobile boarding tunnels. He took the chance to look out the wide portals. Camouflaged the color of night, the marine ship was nearly invisible. He could tell it was huge, about ten times the size of the cruiser. Battleship class. He couldn’t identify the subclass. Something new and secret. Maybe that’s why the man in black was there.

Eli’s gaze drifted beyond the void created by the ship. He froze in place. An audible gasp escaped as his mouth dropped open. He couldn’t help it. Earth hung in the abyss of space, a bluish dot approaching the point where it would become just another star.

He’d resented being called a groundling, but that’s what he was. He’d never left earth, barely ever left the surface and had only seen the stars in cheap lounge holos and vids at the library. Very rarely, when the northeastern winds picked up, he’d spotted a few distant lights in the sky beyond the gleam of the domes and towers of the city. That hadn’t stopped him from dreaming of being a pilot. In fact, the distant allure of those lights had encouraged his fantasies of adventures, far above the trash heaps of home.

This was no dream. The diamond specks of distant suns filled the swoop of space. He’d never believed there were so many. All thoughts dropped away as his reality finally hit him. No ground beneath his feet, only unfathomable distance. He expected the man in black to push him again. Instead he stood behind him. Eli could feel the heat radiating off him, a palpable contrast to the stunning emptiness all around them.

“First time off planet?” the man asked.

Eli snorted derisively. “Hardly.” But he still didn’t move. Not until propelled forward by a hand on his back. The touch was gentle this time. Somewhere in the back of his brain, Eli noted this. He’d think about it when he came down off the high of the stars.

SFR Brigade Presents- The Adventure Begins

THE SFRB Presents

Hello! This is my first foray on the Science Fiction Romance Brigade website. SFR Brigade Presents is a weekly opportunity to share excerpts from published work or works in progress that fall under the wide sky dome of SF Romance.  One of my current WIPS, From Mars, With Love, fits right in.  If you’d like to check out the other fun and fabulous fiction being presented, click here.

Enjoy!

From Mars, With Love

No one believes me when I say I knew Eli Karmazin back when he was plain old Eli, but it’s true.

I’d always thought that Eli led a charmed life until the day we both got caught up in the slave sweeper. Eli’s swift feet and lucky avoidance of bad shit failed him that day, and I can’t say I’m sorry. Don’t get me wrong. We’s friends, Eli and I. I wasn’t sorry about him getting swept ‘cause I like having company in my misery and his company was better than most. And he had that luck, which faltered but didn’t fail him entirely. So I stuck to him like glue and hoped the sweepers would consider us a two-for-one deal and not pry us apart. They didn’t much care, we all being op-digs and self-propelled and oxy-huffers and so into the bin we went without so much as a hideeho and off we go, to Mars or maybe the lunar station or well, who really knew shit back then in the bin. Not me.

But I gets ahead of myself, as usual ‘cause I never told how me and Eli met, we unlikely friends, earthside.

From Mars, With Love is an erotic space opera. Eli and Rilke, two down-and-out earthers get picked up by a slave sweeper and find themselves on the way to Mars.  When the slavers discover that Eli is in possession of a much-desired alien artifact, their adventures become even more dangerous.
